Privacy Policy
HALO is a heads-up navigation app for Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses, built by Guillermo Alarcon (FutureVizion), based in Tokyo, Japan. This policy explains what information HALO collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to get you where you're going.
1. Who we are
HALO ("HALO", "we", "us") is operated by Guillermo Alarcon / FutureVizion. HALO is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Meta or Google. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us using the details in the "Contact us" section below.
2. Information we collect
Location data
To provide turn-by-turn navigation, HALO uses your real-time location from your connected phone's GPS. This location is processed as you navigate to calculate routes, show your position, and find nearby places. We do not sell your location data and we do not build a long-term profile of your movements.
Pairing code
HALO uses a short pairing code to link your glasses session with the companion app. This code may be stored locally on your device (in your browser's local storage) so your session survives the steps of setup and checkout.
Payment information
Payments are processed by Stripe. HALO does not see or store your full card number or banking details — Stripe handles that directly. We receive limited confirmation data (such as whether a payment succeeded) so we can activate your plan.
Plan and access status
We store a small access record (for example, whether your subscription or one-time unlock is active, linked to your pairing identifier) so HALO knows your plan is valid. This is kept in a Google Firebase database.
Usage and technical data
We keep limited usage information needed to operate the service — for example, a count of your free trips so the trial limit works, plus standard server and hosting logs (such as request times and error logs).
Information you send us
If you contact us (for example, by Instagram message or email), we receive whatever information you choose to share.
3. How we use your information
- Provide turn-by-turn navigation, search, and place results;
- Manage your plan, access, and the free-trip limit;
- Process payments and prevent fraud or abuse;
- Maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the service;
- Respond to your questions and support requests;
- Comply with legal obligations.
4. Third-party services we rely on
HALO works with a small set of trusted providers. Your data is shared with them only as needed to deliver the service, and each has its own privacy policy:
- Google Maps Platform (Maps, Routes, Places) — receives location and search queries to return routing and place information.
- Stripe — processes payments.
- Google Firebase — stores your pairing and access status.
- Netlify — hosts the app and companion.
5. Cookies and local storage
HALO uses your browser's local storage for functional purposes only — for example, to remember your pairing code and trip count. HALO does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
6. Data retention
We keep your access record for as long as your plan is active and as needed to provide the service or meet legal requirements. You can ask us to delete your access record at any time, subject to any obligations we have to keep certain records.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can turn off location access at the device or browser level at any time, though navigation will not work without it. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
8. Children's privacy
HALO is not directed to children and is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect information from children.
9. International data transfers
HALO is operated from Japan, and our providers (such as Google, Stripe, and Netlify) may process data on servers located in other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
10. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes may be communicated through the app or website.
